The Kosovo Police have arrested two officials from the Cadastre Department of the Graçanica Municipality on suspicion of corruption, as confirmed by the municipality’s mayor, Ljiljana Šubarić, on Thursday, reports RFE.
While Šubarić refrained from providing further details about the arrests, she emphasized that the investigation and subsequent actions do not undermine the operations of the local government or the Cadastre Department.
“These are individual actions taken by certain individuals,” Šubarić clarified during a press briefing.
Graçanica is one of the six Serb-majority municipalities south of the Ibar River.
“There will be investigations, and we do not want to speculate further on the upcoming procedures. Once we receive detailed information, we will inform you,” she added.
The Kosovo Police have yet to comment on the case or respond to inquiries from Radio Free Europe about the arrests and the next steps in the investigation.
