Two people have been killed and two others injured in a shooting incident at a café in the center of Gjilan, Kosovo. The attack occurred around 12:32 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2025, on “Ibrahim Rugova” Street, according to Ismet Hashani, spokesperson for the Gjilan Regional Police.
Hashani confirmed that the suspect is currently at large and is a male Kosovo citizen who is already known to the police.
“Today, at approximately 12:32, a suspected case of murder and injury with a firearm occurred in Gjilan, on ‘Ibrahim Rugova’ Street. The on-duty doctor confirmed the deaths of two individuals. Two others are injured and have received medical assistance at the emergency center in Gjilan. The suspect is a male Kosovo citizen known to the police and is currently on the run,” stated Hashani.
Police units, along with the State Prosecutor, immediately responded to the scene. The Kosovo Police Regional Investigation Unit, in cooperation with the prosecutor, is actively investigating the circumstances of this serious crime.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any information that could help in locating the suspect.
