Gjakova, July 21, 2025 — A workplace tragedy in the city of Gjakova has claimed the lives of two workers, prompting widespread shock and mourning across Kosovo. Following the incident, the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, issued a public reaction, describing the event as a profound tragedy not only for the families involved, but for society as a whole.

“I urge all Kosovar employers to raise the level of physical safety for workers at every job site,” Haradinaj stated, emphasizing that this incident should serve as a wake-up call for both employers and government institutions.

He called on state authorities to take responsibility by ensuring the proper enforcement of labor laws and safety regulations, to prevent such tragedies from repeating.

“Institutions must treat this case as an alarm to increase accountability and guarantee the implementation of laws that protect the worker,” Haradinaj added.

Concluding his message, Haradinaj extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, their colleagues, and the entire community of Gjakova.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation, as labor unions and civil society organizations renew their calls for urgent improvements in workplace safety standards across the country.
