The U.S. Embassy in Kosovo announced that it will conduct a large-scale joint exercise with the Kosovo Police on Friday.

The drill is scheduled to take place from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will focus on crisis management, inter-institutional coordination, and emergency response procedures, according to Reporteri.net.

“This exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the United States and Kosovo to strengthen cooperation in security and ensure readiness for a range of potential incidents,” the announcement stated.

Purpose and Context

The embassy emphasized that U.S. embassies and consulates frequently conduct exercises to prepare staff for natural or man-made emergencies.
While these exercises are usually theoretical or small-scale, the strong bilateral relations between the U.S. and Kosovo allow for a large-scale, live-action drill focused on crisis management in Kosovo.

What Residents Can Expect

During the drill, the public may notice:

  • Increased presence of Kosovo Police and U.S. Embassy security personnel near the embassy and other designated exercise areas in Prishtina.
  • Temporary road closures and traffic detours, as directed by Kosovo Police.
  • Use of sirens, loudspeakers, and other training effects visible or audible to local residents and passersby.

“The U.S. Embassy emphasizes that this is only a training exercise and not a response to any real incident. We ask for public understanding and cooperation, and encourage everyone to follow instructions issued by Kosovo Police during this period,” the statement added.
