The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has issued a security alert, warning of a potential increase in violence or attacks targeting Americans in Iraq.
The embassy has also urged U.S. citizens to avoid places frequented by foreigners and to stay away from any large gatherings or crowds, CNN reports.
“The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is aware of a heightened potential for violence or attacks against American businesses and locations frequented by American citizens,” the security alert states.
