The Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati, visited today the “Defender Europe” military exercises in Babaj i Bokës.
According to a statement from the Embassy, Prattipati was accompanied during the visit by Major General Michael Wegscheider, commander of the 28th Infantry Division of the Iowa National Guard, and Major General Stephen Osborn, commander of the Iowa National Guard, reports IndeksOnline.
“Over 960 KSF troops are training alongside the U.S. and its partners, highlighting Kosovo’s growing role in global security,” the Embassy’s statement said.
Meanwhile, Major General Wegscheider expressed great satisfaction in participating in the event:
“In every essential mission task we set out to train and verify, we have succeeded. In my opinion, we have demonstrated full interoperability. And I will conclude with this. I have been here many times, in this beautiful place. Every time I return, I remain impressed. I have spent several years of my life here. The true hero of this exercise, among the 18 participating countries, with blood, sweat, and much stress, is the nation of Kosovo. The KSF, General Jashari’s staff, officers and non-commissioned officers, but most importantly the KSF soldiers who are 5,000 meters down in this valley to the south, sweating and demonstrating their strong ability and determination. For us, it has been an extraordinary pleasure to be here, and we look forward to working again with all countries soon,” he said.
