Gaza City, July 30, 2025 — U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is set to visit Gaza today to inspect food distribution centers and assess the deepening humanitarian crisis, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed, as reported by the BBC.
Witkoff will be accompanied by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee during his visit to the besieged territory. The goal of the visit is to develop a coordinated plan to deliver more food aid and to engage directly with local residents to understand the severity of conditions on the ground.
“Mr. Witkoff will ensure a plan is in place to send more food into Gaza and will meet with locals to hear firsthand about the worsening situation,” Leavitt stated.
The envoy is currently in Israel, where he held what Leavitt described as a “productive meeting” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, though no details of the discussion were disclosed.
Meanwhile, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported 111 fatalities in the last 24 hours, including 91 individuals who were reportedly seeking humanitarian aid when they were killed. The exact circumstances remain unclear, but the death toll underscores the urgency of international humanitarian intervention.
Witkoff’s visit comes as international pressure mounts on all parties to facilitate sustained humanitarian corridors and ensure protection for civilians caught in the crossfire of ongoing hostilities.
