Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was wounded during one of Israel’s attacks on Iran last month, two U.S. intelligence sources have confirmed to CBS News.

Earlier this week, Iranian media reported that Pezeshkian was participating in a meeting of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council when Israel struck the building. The reports indicated that the president was wounded in the leg while escaping through an emergency shaft. U.S. sources have corroborated this account.

Additionally, in an interview with American commentator Tucker Carlson this month, President Pezeshkian himself claimed that Israel had attempted to assassinate him and failed.
