U.S. intelligence agencies have issued a stark warning that Russian President Vladimir Putin remains focused on the full occupation of Ukraine and the “reclamation” of territories that once belonged to the Soviet Union, according to reporting by Reuters.

Among the countries identified as potential targets are the Baltic states, which are now members of NATO, significantly raising concerns about broader regional and transatlantic security.

No Indication of Ending the War

Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to halt the conflict, U.S. intelligence assessments conclude that Putin has no intention of ending the war. Instead, the reports indicate that his strategic objective remains territorial expansion.

These findings directly contradict statements by U.S. President Donald Trump and his representatives, who have claimed that Putin is seeking to bring the conflict to an end.

Europe Still at Risk

The intelligence reports also dismiss Putin’s public claims that Russia poses no threat to Europe, emphasizing that Moscow’s long-term ambitions extend well beyond Ukraine.

Further reinforcing these concerns, Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov has warned that Russia could launch attacks against the Baltic states as early as 2027.

Rising Security Concerns

The assessments underscore growing fears within Western security circles that Russia’s war in Ukraine is part of a broader strategy aimed at reshaping Europe’s security order, with NATO’s eastern flank increasingly under threat.
