U.S. soldiers from KFOR’s Regional Command–East recently conducted specialized training to improve their ability to detect, track, and neutralize drones an increasingly critical capability in today’s security environment, KFOR announced.

According to the NATO mission, the system disrupts the drone’s control frequency, forcing it to return to its operator, and can also interfere with GPS/GNSS signals, causing the drone to hover, land, or crash.

“Such exercises strengthen technical skills while emphasizing coordination, teamwork, and adaptability in responding to rapidly evolving aerial threats,” KFOR stated.

KFOR confirmed that it possesses these capabilities and has already used them in operational scenarios, increasing the mission’s effectiveness in addressing new security challenges.

KFOR reiterated that it continues to implement its mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999)—to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo and to ensure freedom of movement, at all times and impartially. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the EU Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), within their respective roles as security responders.
