U.S. State Department Official Visits Kosovo’s Constitutional Court, Discusses Key Decisions

A senior official from the U.S. Department of State visited Kosovo’s Constitutional Court on Tuesday, meeting with Court President Nexhmi Rexhepi to discuss the institution’s role, key rulings, and ongoing judicial challenges.

According to an official statement, Lyn Debevoise, Deputy Director for Western Central European Affairs at the U.S. State Department, held a detailed discussion with Rexhepi about the Court’s functions, current composition, major decisions, and the procedure for appointing constitutional judges.

President Rexhepi informed Debevoise about the Court’s efforts to increase efficiency in handling and resolving cases, as well as its work to strengthen judicial practice in line with European constitutional standards.

Rexhepi expressed his gratitude to the U.S. Government for its long-standing support in building the Court’s professional and infrastructural capacities.

Earlier today, Debevoise also met with Central Election Commission (CEC) Chair Kreshnik Radoniqi.

During the meeting, Radoniqi briefed the U.S. official on the CEC’s preparations for the early parliamentary elections scheduled for 28 December 2025.
