The United States has warned Russia not to become involved in the ongoing conflict with Iran, according to remarks by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Speaking to reporters, Hegseth addressed the issue after being asked about a recent phone call between Donald Trump, President of the United States, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as reported by CNN.

Hegseth described the conversation between the two leaders as a “strong call”, expressing hope that it would help reaffirm the possibility of achieving some level of peace in Russia’s war with Ukraine.

He added that the discussion also reinforced a clear message regarding the broader regional conflict.

“The call also reaffirmed a recognition that, regarding this conflict, they should not get involved,” Hegseth said.

The remarks come amid rising tensions in the Middle East and growing concerns that the conflict involving Iran could expand further if additional global powers become directly involved.
