There is still no indication that the United States will reciprocate Kosovo’s move by implementing a zero-tariff policy on imports. However, the U.S. Embassy in Pristina has welcomed the decision by the Kosovo Government and highlighted the key sectors where U.S. economic interests lie.

Energy, defense, infrastructure, and information technology are among the areas the United States sees as strategic opportunities for economic cooperation with Kosovo.

In a statement to Koha, the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo expressed its support for the government’s decision to remove the 10% customs tariff on American products entering Kosovo. However, the embassy did not clarify whether the U.S. will take similar steps in return.

“The U.S. Embassy welcomes the removal of tariffs on American goods by the Government of Kosovo. For more information regarding tariffs, we refer you to the White House or the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR). We see opportunities for economic cooperation in Kosovo across several sectors, including energy, defense, infrastructure, information technology, and cybersecurity,” the embassy said in its official response.

The statement underscores the ongoing commitment of the United States to fostering stronger economic ties with Kosovo, particularly in strategic and high-growth sectors.
