The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will visit Albania on Sunday, marking his first visit as head of state.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced the visit via Facebook, describing it as a “special occasion” and highlighting Sheikh Mohammed’s long-standing support for Albania and Kosovo.

“Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed first landed in Albania in 1999 at Kukës Airport, built by his father, the founder of the UAE, to aid Kosovars forcibly displaced by war. He was also the largest donor following the devastating earthquake in Durrës, financing the exemplary reconstruction of an entire neighborhood,” Rama stated.

The visit is expected to further strengthen the partnership between Albania and the UAE, particularly in economic cooperation. Sheikh Mohammed played a crucial role in Albania’s agreement on the Durrës Tourist Port and the trilateral energy deal with Italy.
