Russia will not participate in the 2026 World Cup.
This is the decision made jointly by UEFA and FIFA, which keeps in place the suspension of the Russian national team from international competitions.
This decision was initially made in February 2022, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The ban will also apply to the upcoming World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Russian media reports that the decision to exclude Russia from the UEFA and FIFA umbrella will continue, affecting both the national team and clubs.
The draw for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers will take place on December 13, and it will result in 12 groups in the European zone.
Russia was not allowed to participate in the 2022 World Cup or the 2024 European Championship.
