Serbia has been fined €52,500 by UEFA due to the behavior of its fans, who disrespected Switzerland’s anthem, chanted anti-Kosovo slogans, and engaged in racist or discriminatory conduct.

In October, Switzerland faced Serbia in the Nations League, but the match in Leskovac drew attention due to repeated misconduct by the home fans, a recurring issue over the years.

During the October 12 game, which Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic attended, anti-Kosovo banners were displayed, Switzerland’s anthem was insulted, and racist chants were constant.

Matches between Serbia and Switzerland have long been marred by issues, mainly due to the presence of players with Kosovo roots, such as Granit Xhaka.

The Serbian Federation was fined €52,000 in total and will be under surveillance. Should similar incidents occur in the next two years, part of their stadium will be closed.
