The British Embassy in Kosovo has announced a major change to the United Kingdom’s immigration system, confirming its transition to a fully digital visa format.
According to a statement shared by the embassy, starting February 25, 2026, visitors to the United Kingdom who require a visa will be issued electronic visas (eVisas) only. The new system will fully replace traditional visa stickers (vignettes) placed in passports.
The embassy stressed that the eVisa system represents part of the UK’s broader modernization of immigration services, aimed at simplifying procedures, strengthening security measures, and improving border control efficiency.
Under the new system, visa holders will store and access their visa status digitally, eliminating the need for physical visa documentation inside passports. Authorities believe this shift will speed up travel procedures and reduce administrative delays for international visitors.
The British Embassy has urged travelers planning to visit the United Kingdom to carefully review the new requirements and complete all digital visa procedures before traveling.
