The United Kingdom has announced that it will continue supporting NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Kosovo (KFOR) for at least three more years, according to an official statement published on the UK government’s website.

The announcement highlights that the UK has been a key contributor to the UN-mandated NATO Force in Kosovo since its first deployment in 1999, aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the region.

“The commitment centers on a reserve force of several hundred British soldiers who can be deployed to Kosovo at short notice to assist the mission when needed. The UK’s last major deployment to support the mission took place in 2023 following a violent attack on police in northern Kosovo,” the statement reads.

Extending the UK’s contribution to KFOR until at least December 2028 aligns with the government’s ‘NATO first’ defense approach, as defined in the Strategic Defence Review, while also strengthening security across the Western Balkans.
