The United Kingdom is preparing the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales for a possible deployment to the Middle East, cutting its readiness time to just five days.
According to reports, the warship — which carries F-35 fighter jets — could be sent to the region following the escalation of the US-Israel conflict with Iran. Crew members have been informed about the potential mobilization, as the move aims to give the British government greater flexibility to respond quickly if the situation worsens.
If deployed, the aircraft carrier would be accompanied by several other warships and a submarine to strengthen the UK’s military presence in the region, particularly around the Persian Gulf and near Cyprus. However, it would give the prime minister more flexibility to move it quickly if deemed necessary.
