The NATO-led KFOR mission in Kosovo has welcomed the announcement by the United Kingdom to maintain its troop presence in Kosovo and extend its support for KFOR at least until December 2028.

In a statement, KFOR noted that this ongoing commitment strengthens its efforts to maintain a safe environment for all residents of Kosovo and to promote stability throughout the Western Balkans region.

“Together with 33 contributing nations, KFOR remains steadfast in its mission to support peace, security, and stability, fostering cooperation and mutual trust among all partners dedicated to a safer and more resilient region,” the statement read.

The UK’s continued involvement is seen as a critical contribution to KFOR’s mandate of regional security and stability, reinforcing the multilateral efforts of NATO and partner nations in Kosovo.
