Ukraine’s top military commander, Oleksandr Syrskiy, stated late Tuesday that Ukrainian forces have taken control of 74 settlements in Russia’s Kursk region.
General Syrskiy informed President Volodymyr Zelensky via video link, showing him that Kyiv’s army has made progress in various directions, advancing up to 3 kilometers in the last 24 hours and capturing 40 square kilometers of new territory.
Zelensky mentioned on Telegram that he is in constant contact with Syrskiy to receive updates from the front and the Kursk region. Despite the difficulties and intense battles, progress continues, he said.
“I am grateful to our soldiers for their heroic service,” he added.
Later, Zelensky said in a video message that hundreds of Russian soldiers have surrendered to Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region, and all of them are guaranteed humane treatment.
