Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has expressed concerns over Russia’s ongoing military buildup, stating that Moscow is showing no signs of willingness to pursue peace. His remarks came during a joint press conference today with the Defense Ministers of Germany and the United Kingdom following a meeting with the Ukraine Defense Contact Groups.
Umerov emphasized that Russia is ramping up its military production, indicating no change in its aggressive stance. He pointed out that, despite international calls for peace, Russia’s actions continue to contradict any intentions for negotiation or resolution.
The Ukrainian Defense Minister thanked allied nations for their continued support, especially for their provision of military assistance. He highlighted the urgent need for more air defense systems, as airstrikes and missile attacks remain a significant threat.
Meanwhile, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius noted that peace in Ukraine seems “unattainable in the near future,” given Russia’s ongoing aggression and military escalation.
The continued conflict in Ukraine has raised global concerns, with many countries calling for increased military support to Ukraine, as diplomatic solutions remain elusive amidst the intensifying war.
