Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has questioned the sincerity of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent statements expressing readiness for a ceasefire, emphasizing that Kiev expects tangible actions rather than empty promises.

In a post on social platform X, Sybiha reiterated Ukraine’s commitment to a proposed 30-day unconditional ceasefire—a proposal that, according to him, has been on the table since March.

“Putin has already made claims of so-called readiness for a ceasefire—30 hours instead of 30 days. Unfortunately, we have a long history of his words not aligning with reality. We know better than to trust his statements. We are waiting for actions, not words,” wrote Sybiha.

He stressed that Ukraine wants a complete halt to Russian military activity on all fronts and called on international partners and the global community to remain alert and critical in evaluating Russia’s moves.

“The Truth Is in the Deeds”

“We want Russian forces to lay down their arms in all directions. We also urge all our partners and the international community to stay vigilant. Only deeds, not declarations, reveal the truth: This war started and continues solely because of Russia,” Sybiha emphasized.

The statement comes amid a flurry of international diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the war, which remains ongoing despite numerous calls for a temporary truce.
