The Ukrainian Air Force has announced that it shot down 73 out of 112 drones launched by Russia overnight. According to reports, the downed drones targeted various regions across Ukraine, including the eastern, northern, southern, and central parts of the country.
The BBC reported that 36 of these drones did not carry explosive warheads; instead, their purpose was to deceive and confuse Ukraine’s air defense systems. These drones were destroyed without causing damage.
On the other hand, no ballistic or cruise missile launches were reported during the night.
However, the Ukrainian Air Force also reported the loss of a Western-donated F-16 fighter jet. The aircraft, which was engaged in repelling a Russian airstrike, had destroyed three enemy targets before being lost.
The pilot successfully ejected and escaped without injury.
