The meeting took place just outside London, in advance of the anticipated summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled for next week. The summit aims to address the future of the conflict, which began with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Earlier on Saturday, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer held a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to Starmer, both leaders agreed that the Ukraine peace talks near London are a “vital forum” for discussing progress toward a fair and sustainable peace deal.
From his side, President Zelensky firmly stated that Ukraine will not make any territorial concessions to Russia, regardless of discussions that may arise at the upcoming Trump-Putin summit. His stance contrasts sharply with Trump’s earlier remarks suggesting that Ukraine might need to cede some territory to end the war — a position strongly rejected by Kyiv.
