The second day of trilateral peace talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States aimed at ending the war in Ukraine has concluded, with all sides signaling measured optimism and readiness to continue discussions next week.

Following the negotiations held in Abu Dhabi, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the talks were constructive and confirmed that Ukraine is prepared for further negotiations. However, he cautioned that it is too early to draw final conclusions from the current round.

Ukrainian and U.S. representatives reportedly identified a list of key topics for a potential follow-up meeting, while the U.S. delegation presented formats to formalize parameters for ending the war. The United Arab Emirates, acting as host, described the discussions as taking place in a “constructive and positive atmosphere.”

A government spokesperson said the direct exchanges focused on unresolved elements of the U.S.-proposed peace plan. According to sources close to the negotiations, both sides have expressed general satisfaction with the progress achieved so far. A member of the Russian delegation, quoted by TASS, noted that results exist but will be announced by the relevant authorities.

Ukraine also described the talks as “positive” and “constructive”, according to Axios political analyst Barak Ravid, writing on X. Talks are expected to resume next week, according to DW.

This marks the first direct negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow since last year, facilitated by the United States, focusing on conditions and frameworks for ending the war.
