One person has been killed and ten others — including two children — wounded in what officials are calling the largest aerial assault on the town of Lozova, Ukraine, since the war began over three years ago.
According to Ukraine’s state railway operator, Ukrzaliznytsia, the massive Russian strike caused significant damage to a train station and other critical infrastructure in Lozova, a key transportation hub in the Kharkiv region near the Russian border.
“Critical infrastructure, residential buildings, and homes have been damaged… Lozova has experienced the most severe attack since the beginning of the war,” said Serhiy Zelenskiy, head of the town council, in a statement posted on Telegram.
He added that parts of the region have been left without electricity and water as a result of the Russian attack.
Ukrzaliznytsia confirmed that one of its employees was killed and four others were injured during the strike.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia targeted civilian infrastructure in Lozova with more than 25 drones, damaging a warehouse and a train station.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Air Force reported that it had shot down 29 out of 46 drones launched by Russia across the country overnight. The statement also said that one ballistic missile and 17 drones struck various locations within Ukraine.
These claims have not yet been independently verified, and Russia has not commented on the Ukrainian allegations.
Since launching its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Moscow has consistently denied targeting civilian infrastructure — despite extensive evidence suggesting otherwise.
