Ukraine announced on Friday that its drones struck two key industrial sites in Russia’s Moscow and Tula regions, triggering large explosions and fires.

According to the Ukrainian military, one of the targets was an aviation plant in Lukhovitsy, about 135 km southeast of Moscow, which manufactures MiG fighter jets. The second target was the Instrument Design Bureau in Tula, a facility specializing in anti-aircraft missiles and rocket weapon systems.

“Defense forces continue to take all necessary measures to undermine the military and economic potential of the Russian occupiers and to compel Russia to end its armed aggression against Ukraine,” the Ukrainian military stated on Telegram.

In response, Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported that 155 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight, including 11 targeting Moscow. The governor of Tula region, Dmitry Milyaev, confirmed that one person was killed and another injured in the attack.

Fighting between Russia and Ukraine has now entered its third and a half year, with both sides increasingly conducting long-range drone and missile strikes deep beyond the front lines.
