Ukrainian rocket engineers have officially unveiled the new “Flamingo” cruise missile, considered one of the country’s most significant achievements in the defense industry. The missile, first introduced at the IDEX-25 defense exhibition in February under the name FP-5, is now set for serial production.

The Flamingo missile boasts a range of up to 3,000 kilometers and can carry a 1,000-kilogram warhead. Its precision is described as exceptionally high for this category of weapon, with a deviation margin of just 15 meters from the target.

President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that serial production has already begun, noting that all tests were successfully completed and that Ukraine’s armed forces are now ready for operational deployment.

“This is the most successful missile we have developed so far. It flies 3,000 kilometers, which is crucial. By December, we will have more of them. We must ensure the success of testing and secure funding for this program,” Zelensky stated.

A Major Step in Ukraine’s Defense Industry

Military experts describe the Flamingo as a major step forward in modernizing Ukraine’s arsenal, especially in the context of resisting Russian aggression. The missile demonstrates the resilience of Ukraine’s defense industry, which has preserved a strong rocket production base even after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

In addition, Zelensky reminded that Ukraine is also preparing the serial production of “Sapsan”
