Ukrainian and American negotiators are set to meet on Saturday in Miami, Florida, as discussions aimed at ending the war between Ukraine and Russia continue.
Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Olga Stefanishyna, confirmed the meeting, stating that it will include senior Ukrainian political and security officials.
“The negotiations will take place tomorrow in Miami, with the participation of National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Budanov, and David Arakhamia, head of the parliamentary group of the ruling Servant of the People party,” Stefanishyna wrote.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed hope that Ukraine could reach an agreement with Washington as early as next week, marking a potential breakthrough in efforts to bring the conflict to an end.
U.S. envoys have been holding separate negotiations with Kyiv and Moscow for several months, seeking to broker a comprehensive peace deal. However, major issues remain unresolved, including the status of occupied territories and long-term security guarantees for Ukraine.
The renewed talks come after a wave of heavy Russian airstrikes targeting Ukrainian infrastructure, which has resulted in widespread electricity and heating outages during the winter period, worsening humanitarian conditions across the country.
