A drone strike believed to have been carried out by Ukrainian forces has caused significant damage to a residential area in the city of Jelets, located in Russia’s Lipetsk region, according to regional governor Igor Artamonov.

In a statement on Telegram, Artamonov confirmed that 20 apartments were affected, with one unit sustaining the most serious damage.

“The roof and windows need to be restored,” he noted.

Local officials, including Deputy Governor Alexander Ryabchenko and the acting mayor Vyacheslav Zhabin, are on the ground to assess the situation and speak with the residents.

The most severely affected resident was reportedly not injured by shrapnel and is currently staying with relatives. Authorities are now coordinating efforts to repair the building and assist the impacted families.

“Fortunately, there are no serious injuries. I wish everyone a quick recovery,” Artamonov added.

He also mentioned that medical teams and aid workers will visit any injured residents in the area to provide support.
