With Russia’s provocations in NATO airspace becoming increasingly frequent, fears of a Third World War are spreading across Europe — especially in the Baltic states and the eastern flank of the alliance, which have felt the threat since February 2022.
Ukraine remains the key to security for the entire continent, but its resistance has recently weakened as the United States has reduced military and financial aid to Kyiv.
Speaking on Rretheqark, Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko warned that Russia is deliberately provoking the EU, the U.S., and NATO — and would gladly spark conflicts in the Balkans through its ally, Serbia.
“Some believe we are already in World War III, and I am one of them. Russia is provoking NATO, the EU, and the U.S. The response has been too weak, and it’s not just about the Baltic states. Russia wants to set the Balkans on fire — it has influence in Serbia and would be happy to see the region in flames. I am also convinced that its role was significant in the outbreak of the war in the Middle East,” said Goncharenko.
