The terrorist attack in Banjska and the incidents against KFOR troops in Zvečan have been deemed unacceptable by NATO.
In response, the Alliance decided to reinforce the KFOR mission in the north with an additional 1,000 troops and to increase patrol activities near the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL).
This was stated to Tëvë1 by the Commander of KFOR in Kosovo, Ozkan Ulutash.
Speaking on the program “Këndi i Debatit”, Ulutash said that KFOR is conducting joint patrols with the Kosovo Police in the north, as well as synchronized patrols with the Serbian Armed Forces along the ABL.
He added that the situation is being closely monitored and that no indicators have been observed suggesting increased activity around the ABL.
“The attack in Banjska and the attack against KFOR troops in Zvečan are unacceptable. NATO responded immediately. KFOR was reinforced with 1,000 additional troops, and KFOR increased patrol activities near the Administrative Boundary Line, including joint patrols with the Kosovo Police in northern Kosovo and synchronized patrols between KFOR and the Serbian Armed Forces along the ABL. We have closely monitored the situation and have not seen any indicators suggesting increased activity around the ABL. As stated, we are in regular contact at various levels with representatives of security organizations in Kosovo and the Serbian Armed Forces,” he declared.
Meanwhile, Ulutash said that for two years NATO has consistently called for accountability and for those responsible for the attack to be brought to justice.
“We expect the Serbian authorities to cooperate in this regard,” Ulutash added.
