The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM New York time, to discuss developments in Gaza. The meeting was requested by several European Member States — France, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Greece, and Slovenia — with the support of South Korea, Russia, China, Guyana, Pakistan, Somalia, Sierra Leone, and Algeria.

Initially, the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the UN, Riyad Mansour, had requested the meeting to be held on Saturday, August 9, but the date was postponed to respect the Israeli “Shabbat Shalom.”

In a statement, Mansour accused Israel of escalation that, in his view, violates “the will of the international community, international law, and sound logic,” and is even “against the wishes of the majority of people in Israel.”

Meanwhile, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, recalled that “on October 7, the terrorist organization Hamas kidnapped British citizens along with hundreds of Israelis” and added: “The State of Israel will not stop fighting to free all hostages; ensuring the security and protection of our citizens is our duty.”
