United Nations ambassadors have condemned Israel’s plans to take control of Gaza City, warning of severe humanitarian consequences and violations of international law.

During an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council, countries such as the United Kingdom, France, China, and Russia sharply criticized the announced offensive, while the United States defended Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the operation will help “liberate Gaza from Hamas” and insisted that “there is no other way.” He also presented a plan to increase humanitarian aid through secure corridors and distribution points managed by the World Health Organization, with support from the US and Israel.

Since the end of May, the UN reports that 1,373 Palestinians have been killed while seeking aid. Meanwhile, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, over 61,000 people have died since the start of the Israeli offensive, with starvation-related deaths reaching 217.

Netanyahu has dismissed accusations of genocide and criticized international media for, as he put it, “trusting Hamas propaganda,” denying that Israel is allowing mass starvation in Gaza.
