Palestinian Ambassador to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, was visibly emotional during his address to the UN General Assembly, breaking down in tears as he spoke about the suffering of children in Gaza, particularly those dying of starvation.

“Dozens of children are dying of hunger. Images of mothers hugging their lifeless bodies, stroking their hair, speaking to them, apologizing—it’s unbearable. How can anyone allow this?” Mansour said, his voice cracking.

“Forgive me, Mr. President. I have grandchildren. I know what they mean to a family. To watch this happen to Palestinians and not have the heart to act is beyond the limits of any normal human being to tolerate.”

The ambassador’s heartfelt plea came amid growing international concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where thousands are reported to be living without adequate food, water, or medical care due to ongoing hostilities and restricted aid access.

Mansour also recounted the heartbreaking story of Dr. Alaa al-Najjar, a Palestinian physician who lost nine of her ten children—brought to the hospital where she worked, burned and already deceased.

Unable to continue, Mansour broke down in tears, briefly halting his speech.

His emotional address underscores the deepening tragedy in Gaza and serves as a stark reminder of the urgency for international intervention and a ceasefire to prevent further civilian suffering.
