An emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on the current situation in Venezuela has begun in New York.

The agenda for the extraordinary session has been listed as a discussion of “threats to international peace and security.”

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who was captured by U.S. forces, was transferred on Monday morning to a court in New York, where he and his wife are expected to appear before a designated judge in connection with the case against him.

Maduro will face charges of narco-terrorism.
