The United Nations Security Council will convene an emergency session later today in response to the U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, according to a report by the BBC.

Earlier today, Iran formally requested the meeting, condemning the U.S. action as “outrageous” and warning of “everlasting consequences.”

The emergency session comes amid escalating global tensions after the United States targeted three key nuclear sites in Iran, triggering widespread condemnation and fears of regional destabilization.

The Security Council, comprised of 15 member states, is expected to debate the legality and implications of the strikes, as well as their impact on diplomacy, non-proliferation efforts, and global security.
