The United Nations Security Council is set to vote on Monday on a resolution supporting U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza.
Last week, U.S. diplomats officially launched negotiations within the 15-member Security Council regarding a draft text backing Trump’s plan for the post-ceasefire period following the two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The initial draft resolution welcomes the creation of a “Peace Committee”, a temporary governing body for Gaza, potentially led by Trump, with a mandate extending until the end of 2027.
