As the year-end festivities approach, the use of pyrotechnic devices is on the rise in Pristina, presenting significant safety challenges. Lulzim Fushtica, Director of Emergencies in the Municipality of Prishtina, has announced strict measures, including fines, to address unauthorized sales of fireworks.
Regulations and Penalties
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued guidelines permitting the sale of fireworks from December 19 to January 1, while their use is allowed starting December 26. Violations of these regulations will result in severe penalties. Businesses found selling fireworks without authorization or manufacturing explosives without a valid license face fines ranging from €5,000 to €15,000.
Fushtica emphasized that emergency teams are active daily to mitigate risks associated with fireworks, which have caused numerous injuries in past years.
Appeal to Businesses and Citizens
Fushtica urged businesses to avoid selling pyrotechnics to minors and called on parents to supervise their children closely. He warned that improper use of fireworks could lead to severe injuries or even fatalities.
