The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is set to visit Kosovo on October 15, the European Commission has confirmed.

This will be her second visit to Kosovo in a year, following her previous trip in October 2024.

According to the agenda published by the Commission, Von der Leyen will meet with President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti (in an acting capacity). Although the specific topics of discussion have not been made public, the visit comes amid a gradual lifting of EU restrictive measures against Kosovo, initially imposed in 2023 due to tensions in the country’s north.

Her regional tour will also include Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and North Macedonia, as part of the EU’s effort to reaffirm the European perspective of the Western Balkans.

Before arriving in Kosovo, Von der Leyen will stop in Belgrade, where she is expected to meet Serbian officials — a visit seen as particularly significant given the current state of Kosovo–Serbia relations.

The trip aims to strengthen dialogue, underline commitment to peace and stability, and promote the EU’s enlargement agenda in the region.
