European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was warmly received by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in front of the Palace “Serbia” during her visit to Belgrade, part of her annual Western Balkans tour, reports RTS.
The visit focuses on the Western Balkans Growth Plan, introduced last year as a framework to bring countries in the region closer to the European Union, according to announcements from Brussels.
Upon her arrival at Belgrade airport, von der Leyen was personally greeted by President Vučić. Following the ceremonial welcome outside the Palace “Serbia”, the two leaders will hold a private one-on-one meeting, with joint statements for the media scheduled at 09:40.
Von der Leyen last visited Belgrade in late October of the previous year during her regional tour. This visit continues her efforts to strengthen EU integration and cooperation with the Western Balkans.
