The United States has accused China of secretly carrying out at least one nuclear test explosion, despite an official global moratorium on such testing.

The allegation was made by US Under Secretary of State for Arms Control, Thomas DiNanno, during a disarmament conference in Geneva. According to DiNanno, China allegedly used advanced methods to conceal evidence of nuclear detonations from international monitoring systems, including a suspected test believed to have taken place on June 22, 2020.

Chinese authorities have strongly denied the accusations, describing them as false and misleading. However, multiple reports suggest that Beijing is expanding its nuclear arsenal, raising concerns among Western officials and international security analysts about the future of global arms control efforts.

The claims come amid increasing tensions between Washington and Beijing over military expansion, strategic competition, and compliance with international arms control agreements.
