US President Donald Trump has extended the trade truce with China, keeping steep tariffs on both countries’ exports lower than originally planned.
Trump signed a decree formalizing the extension of the trade agreement for 90 days, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Washington and Beijing had previously imposed harsh reciprocal tariffs, reaching several hundred percent. The two countries first agreed to a trade truce in Geneva in May 2025, which reduced tariffs and eased tensions between the world’s two largest economies.
The latest extension aims to provide both sides with more time to negotiate and potentially reach a long-term trade agreement.
