US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi plan to meet on Friday in Istanbul to discuss a potential nuclear deal and other issues, a US official said on Monday.

“The President has called on them to reach an agreement. The meeting is to hear what they have to say,” the official told Reuters.

An Iranian Foreign Ministry official previously said that Tehran is reviewing conditions to resume talks with the United States soon, after both sides signaled their readiness to revive diplomacy over the long-standing nuclear dispute and to remove the risk of a new regional war.

The planned Friday meeting was first reported by Axios.
