Pentagon Press Secretary Sean Parnell has raised concerns over the large-scale shipments of weapons to Ukraine made by President Joe Biden’s administration, RKS News reports.
In a recent statement, Parnell said that the past four years have been marked by a “reckless distribution” of arms, creating challenges for managing the U.S. military’s strategic stockpiles. He suggested a temporary halt to further shipments in order to assess inventory levels and enable better long-term planning.
“We need to evaluate the current state of our stockpiles and ensure sustainable support,” said Parnell.
He emphasized that while support for Ukraine remains important, it must be balanced with domestic defense needs, especially during a prolonged conflict. The goal, he said, should be to maximize the efficiency and accountability of U.S. aid and avoid misuse or loss of advanced weaponry.
Other U.S. officials echoed that sentiment, supporting continued aid to Ukraine but with stricter oversight and strategic foresight. The situation highlights the logistical strain of wartime weapons supply chains and the need to strike a careful balance between helping allies and preserving national defense readiness.
