The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has denied claims that one of its fighter jets was shot down by Iran.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had stated that a U.S. F/A-18 jet was struck over the Iranian city of Chabahar using “new advanced air defense systems.”
Shortly after these claims, CENTCOM issued a statement on X, labeling Iran’s report as disinformation and affirming that no U.S. aircraft had been lost.
“The Iranian regime’s disinformation campaign is widespread. Claims that Iran downed an American aircraft have circulated multiple times across various platforms, often accompanied by false or misleading imagery. To be clear: No U.S. fighter jet has been shot down by Iran,” the statement read.
