The U.S. State Department has announced that the United States Embassy in Jerusalem will be closed from Wednesday through Friday due to the security situation in the region and in accordance with Israeli authorities’ directives.

The news was shared via a post on X, which also stated that consular services in Tel Aviv would be suspended during these days.

While the U.S. has not yet issued an official notification for the evacuation of American citizens from Israel, the State Department confirmed it is planning for emergency scenarios should the situation further deteriorate.

Escalating Rhetoric from Iran

This decision comes amidst heightened tensions in the region, following severe statements from Iranian leaders. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, declared, “We will show no mercy towards the Israeli leaders.”

Meanwhile, Iran’s Ambassador to the UN in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, warned of a harsh response if Iran’s sovereignty is challenged: “A powerful and unrestrained response. We will defend our sovereignty at all costs.”
