The Commander of the Kosovo Security Force (FSK), Lieutenant General Bashkim Jashari, welcomed two high-ranking American military officials to the FSK headquarters for a strategic meeting focused on military cooperation and joint defense initiatives.

The U.S. delegation included:

  • Major General Michael E. Wegscheider, Commander of the 28th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army
  • Major General Stephen Osborn, Adjutant General of the Iowa National Guard

During the high-level discussion, Commander Jashari briefed his American counterparts on recent developments within the FSK, highlighting bilateral cooperation, capacity-building achievements, and the mutually beneficial military activities that have strengthened U.S.–Kosovo defense relations.

Key Topics of Discussion

One of the central themes was the FSK’s participation in “Defender Europe 25,” a multinational military exercise in which Kosovo is serving as a host nation. FSK contingents are also active in Albania, North Macedonia, and Croatia as part of the exercise, underscoring Kosovo’s growing operational capabilities and international integration.

The two sides also reviewed:

  • U.S. military support for the validation of FSK’s ROL 1 Unit Team 2
  • Plans for joint training at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC), coordinated in part by the Iowa National Guard

Commitment to Deeper Cooperation

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in areas of shared interest. They emphasized the strategic partnership between Kosovo and the United States and the ongoing U.S. support for the further development of FSK’s defense capabilities.

This visit highlights the U.S.’s long-standing commitment to Kosovo’s security sector reform, as the FSK continues its transformation into a modern, NATO-interoperable force.
