The U.S. House of Representatives today overwhelmingly voted against considering a resolution proposed by Democrats to impeach President Donald Trump. The resolution cited his authorization of U.S. strikes on Iran without congressional approval.

The Republican stance was known in advance, but the resolution also divided Democrats. It was submitted even as some Democratic leaders, including former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, had rejected calls for the President’s impeachment, according to CNN.

Ultimately, by a vote of 344 to 79, the House decided that the impeachment resolution, introduced by Texas Democratic Congressman Al Green, would not be placed on the agenda. The House did not even debate the resolution itself; instead, it voted solely on whether it would be discussed at all.
